17 September 2009
To borrow a phrase from my dear friend Lacey Kaye - I'm still here and I'm still writing!

2008 took a different direction for me, though, with a pretty significant family shift - the birth of my darling daughter (henceforth to be known as Little Miss Mercer) - that rather drastically reduced my writing time. Or, to be brutally honest, any significant independent time whatsoever.

Now it's 2009, and life changed yet again. I was laid off in August from my day job and suddenly - time is not a problem! I decided - with Mr. Mercer's blessing - to make the most of this opportunity and focus on my writing while looking for new work. I'm pleased to report that I'm more than halfway through the final (I promise, I promise) set of revisions - whoo hoo!

To celebrate, I've redone the format of the blog. You may also note that I've changed the title of my WIP. While I loved The Changeling Bride, it didn't really work with the direction the revisions took. Duchess in the Mirror reflects the plot and characters much better. (Yes, that was a pun!)

I'm planning to finish revisions and start submitting to agents by the end of October (fingers crossed). Check back here for more updates!

Significant independent time = 5 minutes to take a shower once you have kids! Please tell me when you have it published, I promise to buy 5 copies to and get them autographed by you!!!
